Fr. John Bayer New Yorkban nőtt fel, majd 2007-ben belépett az Our Lady of Dallas Cistercian Abbey közösségébe (cistercian.org). Ünnepélyes fogadalmát 2012-ben tette le, pappá 2013-ban szentelték. Doktori tanulmányait 2019-ben fejezte be a római Pontifical Gregorian University intézményben, Szent Anzelm of Canterbury munkásságáról írt disszertációval. Több évig tanított adjunct professor-ként a University of Dallas intézményben, valamint tanárként és form masterként (osztályfőnökként) szolgált a Cistercian Preparatory School-ban, majd 2025-ben Magyarországra érkezett. A lelkipásztori szolgálat és a tanítás mellett jelenleg hivatásgondozóként szolgálja szerzetesi közösségét. Kutatási érdeklődési területei közé tartozik az alapvető teológia, a hit és tudomány kapcsolata, a katolikus társadalmi tanítás és a katolikus nevelés, valamint Szent Anzelm of Canterbury, Szent Bernard of Clairvaux, Szent John Henry Newman és Pope Benedict XVI írásai.

Introduction

After growing up in New York, Fr. John entered Cistercian Abbey Our Lady of Dallas in 2007 (cistercian.org). He made solemn profession in 2012 and was ordained a priest in 2013. He completed his doctoral studies at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome in 2019 with a dissertation on St. Anselm of Canterbury. After teaching for several years as an adjunct professor at the University of Dallas and serving as a teacher and form master (osztalyfőnök) at Cistercian Preparatory School, he came to Hungary in 2025. In addition to pastoral ministry and teaching, he currently serves his monastic community as vocations director. His research interests include fundamental theology, faith and science, Catholic social teaching, and Catholic education, as well as the writings of St. Anselm of Canterbury, St. Bernard of Clairvaux, St. John Henry Newman and Pope Benedict XVI.
